Ideas from Malazan Series

  • D’ivers – these are shape shifters that take on the form of swarms and packs. As they defeat other powerful creatures they gain in size, number, and perhaps even powers.
  • Stone/wood weapons. While on the surface they should be weaker, the idea is that there is something cultural that makes them stronger/less brittle. The Bloodoil of the Toblikai (sp) had a number of implied properties such as a creating a resin that bonded with the wood, may have had Otatorial (magic dampening) properties, and incite a blood lust (that might have been an Otatorial side effect)

  • Munitions for a reclusive race
  • I am liking the Teblor- they seems to be a more human looking Troll – large, tribal, fast healing. Might be an interesting group to stick in the mountains somewhere. Might be fun for a couple of players to play out Karsa’s original raid and discover the world below. They might tie into the Slavers series (one of the other tribes has been pacified). Would need to think about if the 7 gods are something to port over as a plot.
